Medicaid and CHIPSuspended

Colorado suspended Medicaid and CHP+ payment for puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and related procedures starting 13 Oct 2026. The state says payment can resume only if the legislature acts. Behavioral health care is not included in the suspension. Members already taking cross-sex hormones may have a six-month taper under the federal rule. A federal CMS final rule (13 Aug 2026) prohibits federal Medicaid and CHIP funding for these procedures for patients under 18 (Medicaid) and under 19 (CHIP).
