The National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen) concluded that the evidence for puberty suppression and cross-sex hormones in adolescents is insufficient. It recommends those treatments in a research setting, with exceptional non-research cases under strict criteria.
The Socialstyrelsen knowledge support is a medical restriction. Lgr22 is the school instrument.
Schools detail
From 1 July 2022, Skolverket’s Lgr22 curriculum renamed and strengthened the knowledge area as sexualitet, samtycke och relationer. The official Skolverket page states that the area covers identity, health, equality, norms, sexuality, and relationships, and that teaching should include pupils regardless of gender identity or gender expression. That is official CSE.
