Health PEI lists hormone therapy, including puberty blockers, as a covered non-surgical procedure. Under-16s are referred to a pediatrician.
Health PEI’s official services page says a person under 16 should ask a family physician or nurse practitioner for a pediatrician referral to discuss social, medical, or legal transition, or may self-refer to the Gender Affirming Clinic at Sherwood Medical Centre in Charlottetown. The official non-surgical coverage page lists hormone therapy, including puberty blockers, among PEI Medicare-covered procedures, subject to written approval. There is no provincial medical ban.
