A provincial policy sets Tanner stage 2 as a criterion for puberty blockers.
IWK Health’s official youth page says transition may evolve to include puberty blockers, hormone replacement therapy, and/or surgeries. Youth can self-refer through the provincial mental-health intake line. The Department of Health and Wellness policy lists “Criteria for puberty blocking agents,” including marked and sustained gender incongruence, informed consent or assent, and Tanner stage 2. There is no provincial medical ban.
