The Ministry of Education’s Health and Family Life Education curriculum for Grades 1–3 (Department of Education, 2012) sets Theme 2 as Sexuality and Sexual Health. The Ministry of Education incorporated Focus on Youth into grade-6 HFLE in government primary schools; the Department of Education treats FOY as part of that subject. At the Office of the Prime Minister’s weekly press briefing on 9 August 2023, Director of Education Dominique McCartney-Russell said HFLE makes students aware of what LGBT means — definitions of what is there.
