Austria’s health ministry points clinicians to the German-language AWMF child-and-adolescent guideline for diagnosis and treatment.
The official Sozialministerium page for gender incongruence in children and adolescents, last updated 23 February 2026, points readers to the German-language AWMF S2k guideline on diagnosis and treatment. That is the ministry’s named child-and-adolescent instrument. A separate 2024 ministry recommendation on irreversible treatments for children with differences of sex development (DSD) says puberty blockers are outside that DSD text. There is no nationwide statutory ban.
Schools detail
The Federal Ministry of Education’s Rundschreiben Nr. 11/2015 (Grundsatzerlass Sexualpädagogik), on the official BMBWF circular database, is the nationwide teaching principle for school sexuality education. Official text orients that teaching to gender equality and diversity of life forms, including sexual orientation and gender identities (Geschlechteridentitäten). That is official CSE.
