On September 23, 2026, The Federalist reported that Prosilio Care — a private pediatric transgender facility in Pasadena, California, linked to San Francisco’s Gender Confirmation Center — is closing. Johanna Olson-Kennedy, former medical director of the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Transyouth Clinic, had been listed on Prosilio’s staff until the clinic’s website was scrubbed that Wednesday afternoon. Pages that previously showed detailed services and personnel became empty. A reporter who visited the site that afternoon found a locked, empty office.
Gender Confirmation Center spokesman David Perry told The Federalist that Prosilio is not converting to an adult-only practice. According to Perry, the decision to shut Prosilio entirely was made in November 2025, with an effective date of October 1, 2026 or sooner, and the wind-down process is already underway. Perry said the closure is unrelated to that week’s U.S. Department of Justice hospital settlements involving NYU Langone Hospitals and UPMC.
Those DOJ resolutions are part of a wider federal effort in which hospitals have agreed to end sex-rejecting procedures on children. Reporting around the Prosilio closure also notes pressure from malpractice insurers and ethics warnings from professional bodies such as the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
