On 5 June 2026, the U.S. Department of Justice announced a resolution with the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, together with the Ohio Attorney General. DOJ describes a decades-long commitment not to perform or offer sex-rejecting procedures on minors, including puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones.
Terms DOJ states. Cleveland Clinic will pay $308,000 to resolve alleged false billings to public and private payors, and will dedicate $2 million to restorative care for people living with consequences of those interventions received as children or adolescents (DOJ: “detransitioners”), regardless of insured status or ability to pay.
Allegations, not findings. The Justice Department’s release states that the claims resolved “are allegations only, and there has been no determination of liability.” It also states that Cleveland Clinic has denied all allegations. This is not a court verdict.
